Salgareda Municipality and Bike Tribe Mtb Team, a mountain bike sport association have set up a biking itinerary linking Treviso and Venice Provinces . Town Municipalities along the Piave river that have adhered to this initiative can now offer a beautiful trail arriving to the sea shores.

On leaving our Relais, one has to cross the provincial road and start the intinerary. The entire trail runs along the river bank till Cortellazzo , nearby Jesolo, where the Piave river flows into the Adriatic. With the only exception of few natural deviations, the entire itinerary follows the river course.

A day spent biking along the Piave is a true return to nature , where in a quiet surrounding you will only meet joggers or fellow bikers . A mountain bike ride will take about 2 hours (35 kilometers or 22 miles) and those less inclined to such distances can reach S. Donà di Piave about 17 kilometers
(11 miles) away.

The entire itinerary is signalled according to IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association), the largest and best known association for setting up and maintaining Mountain bike trails in the world. BIKE TRIBE MTB TEAM is an associate to IMBA.,

Trail directions

On coming from Ponte di Piave trough the Provincial road to S. Donà di Piave and Jesolo, take via Gonfo (first road on the right after about 1 kilometer from Ponte di Piave traffic light).
Proceed about 400 meters on a paved road : when closing the access to Goffredo Perise’s “ fairy house” , the dirt road takes to the Gonfo river woods. Signals barring mechanized traffic also indicates the trail start defined in several places by wooden railings.

Leave the trail on the right hand side after 800 meters about and a series of bends and backs in single track offer the possibility to improve ones biking techniques. Passo Vecchio is reached in proximity of a meadow and the ditch near the S. Antonio road shrine. After crossing the bridge a rest area has been set up at Chiesa Vecchia fitted with picnic tables in the vicinity of the river ferry

Continuing on the right river bank trail and after 800 meters from Chiesa Vecchia, nearby Casa Cestari you enter a small woods leading to a rise few meter long and from this point the trail leads to the wooden catwalk at Cà Sartoretto thazt will take to Club Ombretta, a place sunk in a pleasant shady area.

On leaving Cà Sartoretto, proceed for 150 meters about with trail bending to the left in way of a ditch and follow it until to the Piave river bank. Here bikers can either turn to the right coasting the bank until Romanziol ( 2 Kilometers abt) and finally reach the sea coast or turn left to return to Casa Ombretta.
